The chasen is the traditional bamboo whisk used in Japan to prepare matcha. Carved from a single piece of bamboo, it allows you to whisk the green tea powder into a light froth, bringing out all the delicate aromas of matcha.

Usage & Care

1. Preparation:
Sift 1 to 2 grams of matcha into a bowl (chawan). Add a small amount of hot water (around 80°C) and whisk vigorously in an “M” or “W” motion until a fine froth forms.

2. Rinsing:
After use, gently rinse the chasen with warm water to remove any residue.

3. Drying:
Let it air dry, preferably on a dedicated holder (chasen naoshi), to maintain the shape and longevity of the bristles.

4. Precautions:
Avoid detergents and prolonged humidity, as they may damage the bamboo.
